Jay Cutler thinks he might still be traded before next month's NFL draft, even though Broncos officials came away from a Monday conference call with their quarterback under the opinion that a recent rift had been smoothed over, The Denver Post reported.

And with the team's voluntary offseason conditioning workouts scheduled to start next week, an NFL source told the paper that Cutler has not yet decided whether he will show up Monday.

That would likely re-ignite speculation that the Broncos will move Cutler before Broncos coach Josh McDaniels steps on the sideline for his coaching debut this fall.

McDaniels would not comment, but a source close to the team told the paper the coach, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen, GM Brian Xanders and chief operating officer Joe Ellis thought the conference call ended positively, with the possibility of a future trade never coming up.

Cutler, though, has been unhappy since learning McDaniels supposedly considered trading him to Tampa Bay in a deal that would have brought then-Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel to Denver. McDaniels coached Cassel at New England last season.

McDaniels said he merely received calls from interested teams and announced through a team spokesman last week that "the Denver Broncos are not trading Jay Cutler. Period."

Cutler and Broncos officials may have begun the conference call believing any friction would be resolved, but Cutler still came away unhappy, one of the paper's sources said.

In light of that, staying away from next week's workouts may be Cutler's way of forcing the Broncos' hand.
