While some of you shoppers were out emptying wallets and purses during Black Friday, I was in the office real early, working on a final pick for Sunday's Broncos-Jets game.
Just when I needed a break, comedian and Sports Soup host Matt Iseman stopped by for a visit.
Sports Soup, which offers irreverent takes from the sports world twice a week on Versus, has been on-air since mid- October.
Iseman is a graduate of Cherry Creek High School.
"We're not looking to tear people down, and when we do that, we're having a laugh," Iseman said. "There's no agenda to make people look like (jerks). If they do it on their own, we're going to give them the platform to show the rest of the nation."
Being a huge Broncos fan, Iseman is hoping Sunday's game against the Jets doesn't produce too many Sports Soup- worthy moments. It could get ugly - especially if Denver doesn't bring an "A" game or a D-fense.
Two notable streaks that began in 1992 are likely to continue. Jets quarterback Brett Favre has started in 264 consecutive games. And the Broncos have scored in 256 consecutive games - the fourth-longest scoring streak in NFL history.
The Broncos are right where the San Diego Chargers were a year ago - 6-5 and holding down first place in the AFC West.
The Chargers won their last five games to close out the regular season, holding opponents to an average of 12 points.
Keeping teams under 30 points has been a chore for this Broncos team. Opponents have hit the 30-point mark five times in 11 games.
I do believe the Broncos will hold the Jets under 30 points. But New York will get the win, 20-13.
And if I'm wrong, Iseman and his Sports Soup crew just might jab me with a needle to the funny bone.
"It's been fun putting stuff out there and seeing most of the people get it," Iseman said. "We're doing it in a lighthearted way because we love sports."
