
--Quarterback Jay Cutler's name surfaced in trade reports that had the Bucs interested in acquiring him, according the NFL Network. Tampa Bay reportedly approached the Broncos about swapping Cutler for Matt Cassel if the Bucs could work a trade with New England. That became moot when Cassel was dealt to Kansas City. NFL Network reported that Detroit also approached Denver about Cutler. While the Broncos claim to have no intention of trading Cutler, but the NFL Network said Cutler was angry to hear about the rumors.
--CB Andre' Goodman has signed a five-year, $25 million deal with the Broncos that includes $10 million in guaranteed money, according to the NFL Network. Seemingly over his shoulder ailments, Goodman played Pro Bowl-caliber defense during the last 12 games of the season for Miami, coming up with a career-high five INTs and 19 pass breakups.
--Wide receiver Jabar Gaffney has signed a four-year, $10 million deal with the Broncos that includes $3 million in guaranteed money.
Bringing in Gaffney could them to move Eddie Royal back to a slot position, which was what the team envisioned for him when it took Royal in the second round last year. Royal played very well last year, with 91 catches, and could take on a Wes Welker-type role in the slot in Josh McDaniels' offense.
--The Broncos moved quickly to revamp their backfield on the first day off free agency, signing former Eagle Correll Buckhalter to be the No. 1 back and former Cardinal J.J. Arrington to serve as a third-down back and potential kick returner.
--ILB Andra Davis has signed with Denver. He's a good fit for the Broncos due to his experience in the 3-4 scheme Denver will employ next season. And the Broncos were in need of inside linebacking help to fit the new scheme.
--Denver didn't make much effort to re-sign any of its free agents, as it turns the page to a new era. Linebacker Nate Webster and defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban are among last year's starters that will be on the open market.
